Rhodes Scholarships, the oldest international fellowships, bring outstanding students from many countries around the world to the University of Oxford. The first American Scholars were elected in 1904.
Rhodes Scholars are elected for two years of study at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, with the possibility of renewal for a third year.

This scholarship is available to: Undergraduate Students
GPA requirement: 3.75
The primary criteria by which prospective Rhodes Scholars are selected are: (1) literary and scholastic attainments; (2) energy to use one's talents to the full, as exemplified by fondness for success in sports; (3) truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship; (4) moral force of character and instincts to lead, and to take an interest in one's fellow beings.
In addition to possessing these qualities, students applying from must: (1) be U.S. citizens; (2) be at least age 18, but not yet 24 years of age, on October 1st of the year of application; (3) have completed a Bachelor degree before October 1 the year after application.

Application
Information:
Applicants for the Rhodes Scholarship must be nominated by the university and so should seek mentorship as early as their junior year to maximize their prospects of putting forward a competitive application. To begin, it is recommended that students familiarize themselves with the Rhodes Scholarship by carefully reviewing the program, its guidelines, requirements, tips, and application forms at the organization web site. The University of Oregon Faculty Representative for the Rhodes Scholarship is Judith Baskin, Associate Dean of Humanities in the College of Arts and Sciences.
In order to begin the application process, applicants register online (at www.rhodesscholar.org) to open a scholarship file. Application materials must be completed electronically for review by the university representative no later than mid-September in order to meet the program's early October deadline. The university administrator only forwards the online applications for UO endorsed nominees.
